As I parked into the newer overnight parking garage at the CHS airport this past weekend, it was super early in the morning. The first thing my friend and I noticed was how well lit the garage was, how easy they’ve made it with indicators to know which rows have an open spot or not, and the surveillance cameras throughout. Not only did we feel safe about leaving my car there for the weekend, we felt even more safe walking in the dark through the parking garage and over to the airport. We spotted surveillance cameras on each floor, row, and inside the garage elevators.
Surveillance Day is celebrated every year on August 16th. If you find yourself out and about this Friday, take a minute to wave at any surveillance cameras you spot. As our safety and security from camera systems is serious business, “on Surveillance Day, take a moment to have a little bit of fun with the cameras surrounding you and do what little kids do when they see a train: wave! With all of the problems the world is facing, it’s nice to just let go and have a laugh every now and then, and the person who might be watching the recordings later on will likely find him or herself chuckling as well. The more people doing it, the cheerier the world will be, if just for a moment!”
