Last night while checking my neighborhood FB page I saw a post of a stranger at someone’s back door trying to get in. I instantly thought about the 15 reason your businesses need security cameras installed that we’ve been highlighting this month on LinkedIn. One reason that stood out to me was how your security cameras support legal evidence.
When it comes to protecting our businesses, properly installed cameras with the right features will help us defend ourselves with legal evidence. Security footage can provide critical evidence in criminal investigations, workplace incidents, disputes, or property damage cases. Here are some examples.
Lawsuits
Retail Stores: Footage showing a suspect shoplifting or engaging in burglary.
Insurance Fraud: Footage disproving false claims (e.g., staged accidents).
Workplace Incidents
Employee Misconduct: Footage capturing theft, harassment, or other policy violations.
Safety Violations: Video evidence showing an unsafe work environment leading to injury.
Disputes
Recently, a small local business owner in Summerville used their video footage to defend themselves against a customer.
Property Damage
Vandalism: Cameras capturing individuals defacing walls, damaging cars, or other acts of property destruction.
Construction Sites: Evidence of unauthorized entry or damage to equipment.
With all that being said, I cannot think of one business type that shouldn’t have security cameras installed. All businesses need to protect themselves, their employees, their customers, their intellectual property, their vendors, their merchandise, and this list could go on. If your business doesn’t have cameras installed yet, get them. If you’d like to learn more from us, request a quote.
